Friday marks the start of the practice laps and after a couple of years making do with some cheap Chinese rearsets, I finally fitted some decent Lightech versions and what a difference! I managed to go a second quicker than both previous years with club racing. The session finished with some adjustments and we were set for qualifying. New rubber on and I squeezed a few more tenths off the lap times finishing really happy with progress.

Saturday, race one and a cracking start. Head down and I soon got into punching some consistent laps until the race was red flagged. On the restart, I followed previous form with a flyer and carried the confidence to finish 20th, my highest place in the Trioptions Cup, with points in the R&G trophy.

Sunday awoke to race two and started dry but on the sighting lap the heavens opened and tyres were changed on the grid. Bad luck followed as the Ducati must have collected water in the electrics on the warm-up lap and started to misfire forcing retirement.

On the whole a great weekend, with progress and big Birthday smiles despite the gremlins. We’ll carry the new found pace onto Oulton Park for Endurance with No Limits on the 8th June. We’ve a little time to dry out the electrics and scratch heads in preparation.

Thanks to all my amazing team and all my sponsors and supporters. See you at the weekend. Bring the sun!
